Fort Collins Water Works Museum. In addition to
ensuring an adequate supply of water for fighting the frequent fires
that plagued the early township, the
Historic Water Works provided the growing town of Fort Collins
with drinking water. The 26 acre Water Works site also features
evidence of a portion of the Cherokee Trail, and is an important
landmark for conveying the story of this famous route, which led
gold seekers, emigrants, and outlaws through the Western Frontier.
